Start out on the right foot!

Resources can come in a variety formats and its important that you start your training off on the right foot! To get started as a student, I utilize the following electronic resources in order to make this process as fun, efficient, and financially minimizing as possible!

Weather & More!

Be sure to access the additional resource tabs to include weather information and even free FAA materials!

Step 1

Ground Knowledge - Sporty's

Ground Knowledge - King Schools

The key to any successful student is to have the proper ground knowledge taught prior to any flight lesson! This will also minimize the costs of ground instruction to you as the student. Should a topic ever be difficult to understand, I am happy to schedule ground sessions to master the topic at hand!

I utilize Sporty's. A nationally recognize flight school and product provider. Sporty's provide top tier instructional presentations for a fraction of the cost! You may check them out by clicking the button below to read more about their course. Upon enrollment, I will place you in my Sporty's classroom in order to monitor your progress and ensure you are on the right track!

For those who need a little more entertainment during their ground school, King Schools will be an excellent choice!

John and Martha King have been flying for decades, traveling the world to share with students their knowledge and passion for aviation. While their technology and humor may be dated, they offer a fun, watered down approach to some of the most difficult topics.

Click the button below to begin your journey with John and Martha for your Private Pilot Certificate! While there are multiple options, all that is required is the $279.00 ground school. You may choose to purchase a bundle if you like for an additional cost!

Step 2

Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)

The ways of aviation are rapidly changing with the integration of new technology. Electronic Flight Bags help minimize the clutter pilots face on a day-to-day basis by placing charts, documents, and even a logbook, into a nicely finished, user friendly interface.

Students are encouraged to purchase a subscription to Foreflight, a leader in Electronic Flight Bag Technology. In order to maximize your experience, I highly recommend purchasing an iPad with a cellular chip (data plan not required) in order to utilize the GPS functionality within the software.

Check out ForeFlight today to see if its a good fit for you!

Step 3

Headsets

Every pilot needs to hear the world around them! In order to do that, we invest in a quality headset that will last us for the years to come. There are two primary types of an airplane aviation headset.

Passive Noise Cancellation are headsets that block the noises from the outside world through means of ear insulation, such as gel ear seals. Generally a cheaper headset with no means to control volume by an external source.

Active Noise Cancellation are headsets that block the noises from the outside world electronically. They offer a crisp sound and can be controlled by an external source, however they can be more expensive!

There are a plethora of headsets out there to choose from. I personally recommend anything from David and Clark or Bose. Reach out if you need help selecting a style that suits you!
